I am so happy I finally get to wear a tangerine! I honestly can't really tell the difference with the new exploration method, but I had trouble doing it before anyways. It's still really fun though! Also if I save my game while I'm in the pond, I become Jesus for a moment and float above the pond until it's done saving the game and I exit the text, at which I fall back into the pond. I honestly think it's pretty hilarious, it's almost like a fourth wall break, where your character realizes, for just a moment, that they are indeed not real and becomes self aware, therefore ascending to godhood.
I'll have many more environments for exploration in the full release. The guy with the cowboy hat you meet at the beginning of the game, however, will be removed / replaced as soon as I can implement the original story concept.
!!! That's gonna be so cool! I can't wait for new places to explore! And I am so glad I won't have to share a house with that guy (I don't know anything about him but he annoys me so much lol).
I can't see how much money I have, I can't place down furniture in my house without replacing another piece of furniture, and I don't know how to open inventory. Also, I don't know if I'm just selling one item at a time or this is some infinite money glitch, but if I talk to the store owns again and sell my items, they give me 27 money each time. It would also be really nice if when I do things the characters ask and then comeback, they know that I did it.
In its current state the game is quite a mess. I hastily built both shops in the last hour before the game jam's deadline. 3 days just aren't enough time to create a full game and test it thoroughly π
I'm currently working on some quick fixes for things like the infinite money glitch. But I'm going to completely rework most of the systems in the future.
You can see the amount of money you have in the main menu (Start button / Enter when playing in the web player). From there you can also open the inventory. In the house there are only 2 furniture slots. That is correct. This is due to a technical limitation of the Game Boy. There is not really a way to work around that if I also want to allow the player to change wallpapers and floorings.
Ahhhhh, okay. I completely understand how hard it must've been to make the game even functional in just 3 days, you did accomplish an incredible amount in that time period though! With the Game Boy limitations in mind, and also that I don't completely understand how it works. If you can only have two furniture slots in a room, perhaps there could be more than one room? Especially if you stick with the player sharing the house with that other Capybara (who I'm still not sure is like my husband or just some dude I met on the way), it would make more sense if there is more than one room. And thank you for explaining how I can get to the inventory!
I figured out the infinite money glitch is because when you sell your items they don't leave your inventory. Also, when I'm in the menu, if I try to press what I assume to be the settings button, it'll take me to my inventory and once it asked me if I wanted to save the game. So I think the menu buttons are a bit messed up. I just wanted to let you know, so you might have more insight on how the problems work for whenever you fix them.
Thanks for taking the time to give me all the details about the bugs. Most of these things, however, are already fixed in my current unreleased build. Still need to completely redo the inventory navigation because of another bug and that takes some time but I should have the new version online by the end of the week :)
Also having a house with multiple rooms is a great idea. But my first priority is to fix the existing bugs before I add anything new.
Oh wow! You've worked so fast already, it must be one of your strong suits. The bugs are absolutely first priority, ofc. New features wouldn't work to well if there's already bugs in the game lol. I'm glad a could help even a little (I probably will keep commenting on the game about bugs or anything else. I'm so sorry, you must be getting tired of me lol) and I can't wait to play the updated version!
Haha, thanks a lot π If you ever feel like swimming in the pond again, please make sure to get the latest version of the game, as I have quite a few updates planned for the future π
Thanks so much for playing and showing off my game π I'm glad you enjoyed your time. The voting for the game jam has ended last sunday and this game actually made it to second place of 112 submissions π₯³ I'll release a couple of bug fixes within the next 1-2 weeks and add much more content over the next months π
Thanks a lot! Actually all art assets were created during the game jam period. I have become pretty quick at creating pixel art. Also, I didn't do anything else than eat, sleep, and work on the game during the 3 days. However, I did not have any time left to create a new font and an original soundtrack for this game. So, the font and music are reused from my previous games.
I know, the shops are a complete mess. I only had one hour left before the deadline to create both of them and no time for testing. Originally, I had a completely different shop system in mind. But that would have taken way too long to implement. This will be the first thing I'm going to work on after the voting period has ended π
Happy to hear you enjoy the game , Can you describe the problems you have with the menu? You can access the inventory from the menu (Start button / Enter on PC).
I'll never understand how game developers can be SO DANG GOOD. It is incredible being able to make all the pixel art you used for the game but to turn it into a game too is just incredible. Great job, definitely got a thing or two to learn before I can reach this level.
You are being way too kind π I only started developing games a year ago. So, there is still a lot I need to learn. But I really love working on games. I really hope that I'll eventually be able to change professions and work as a full-time game dev π
This game is wonderful. I absolutely love the atmosphere - and the fact that it's a genuine GBC game is incredible. Dialogue, cutscenes, customization, gameplay - this little game packs so much. Even the music brings me back to the GBA and Pokemon Emerald (since I never had a GBC), and I love it.
One glitch I did find is that I can sell items infinitely, if I keep talking to either shopkeeper after the first expedition. But other than that, this was a really amazing experience. It feels like a real, professional game haha.

Tangerine swag π₯³
Thanks for letting me know about the "Jesus bug". I'll fix that with the next update.
You're welcome, I'm glad I can help! Also the Jesus bug is a hilarious name for it lol
Super cute! I can't wait to see what you do with this game :)
Thanks a lot π
My favorite parts of this game is the exploring section and tormenting my roomate/husband??? I bought a couch just to replace his bed with it.

Hi! We played your game on stream and really enjoyed it!
Thanks so much for playing and showing off my game π

This is really gorgeous! Great work!
Thanks so much π₯°
Amazing art, you must have reused some assets to make all this in such a short amount of time but I didn't notice anything! Very cute, there seems to be some weird things going on with the shop (you can infinitely sell to the shopkeepers and get infinite money). Really reminds me of the beginning of old PokΓ©mon games. Impressive that you made such an intricate menu system, "exploring" system, text system, and world so quickly!

I love developing for the GBC and I loved PokΓ©mon Emerald π
I recently had someone from Fiverr put me as a player character into Emerald. It's like a dream come true.
Thanks for letting me know about the glitch. Should be an easy fix once the upload ban has been lifted :)
